The Hat Store

The Hat Store are a brand new internet enterprise looking to establish themselves as the foremost brand in the online headwear sector. With this in mind we created a large database-driven website along with a comprehensive Content Management System (CMS) to easily manage all aspects of the store: products, categories, offers, orders, newsletters and more.

Key Requirements

  • creation of logo and corporate identity
  • clear distinction between summer & winter ranges
  • automatic top seller lists for both seasons
  • easy access to shopping basket & top sellers at all times
  • feature-rich Content Management System (CMS)

Our Approach

We designed the site using a neutral colour palette, while clearly branding the winter and summer sides of the store using strong associated colours (orange and blue respectively) to aid usability.

A small 'mini basket' was built into both the header & footer of every page, with the footer also hosting lists of top sellers for both seasons. Each season was given its own 'home page', giving a clear graphical overview of its categories, top sellers, new products and any offers.

In Detail

Corporate identity

We created a simple yet subtly stylised logo to give the brand a clear identity.

Clearly defined seasons

A colour-coded tabbed interface was created to clearly distinguish between the two different seasons. Each season has its own 'home page' to summarise the available catagories and promote top sellers, new products and any offers.

Useful 'Footer' on every page

The 'Footer' area on every page was used to present a handy summary of the customer's basket, as well as the top seller lists for the two seasons.

Content Management System (CMS)

We built a powerful CMS which gives The Hat Store complete control over the contents of the website. Among other things they can:

  • Add/edit/remove products
  • Add/edit/remove categories
  • Create custom offers
  • View and manage all orders
  • Create & send HTML newsletters
  • Manage product stock levels
  • Edit the content displayed on pages such as 'Contact Us'.
