Domain Names
Choosing a domain name is one of the most important parts of creating a website, and as such should be one of the first things to consider.
Having your own domain name, such as www.myname.co.uk, gives you a unique web address and will remain yours for as long as you require.
In contrast, having one linked to an Internet Service Provider (for example, www.myname.myISP.co.uk) means that it would change if ever you moved to a different service provider.
Choosing your domain name
With more & more websites springing up everyday, it's getting ever harder to get the exact domain name you would like. You can see if the name you'd like is available by using this simple search tool. While searching for a suitable name, it's a good idea to bear these best practices in mind:
- Avoid unusual spelling and double letters together which can lead to typing errors
- Avoid long names which are difficult to remember
- Unless you are aiming at an international market, a .com isn't necessary and a .co.uk is usually much cheaper
Pricing
You cannot own a domain name indefinitely; instead they must be purchased in yearly blocks. Our charges for the most common suffixes are shown below:
- A .co.uk domain costs £10 per year. These need to be registered in two year blocks.
- A .com domain costs £20 per year. These are registered in yearly blocks.
We can also offer very competitive prices for all other domain suffixes, so please contact us if you would like a quote or any further information about your domain name choices.
